SUPERVISOR: Executive Director
Neighbor Helping Neighbor Food Bank Inc. (NHNFB) exists to provide supplemental food for the food insecure people of Perry County while treating every individual and family with dignity and respect.
We will reduce food insecurity within our community through the kindness of our volunteers, supporters and donors who provide the gifts of their time and resources.
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
General:
The Assistant Director is involved with the daily and general operations of the NHNFB to include supervising staff, providing for the recruitment and supervision of volunteers, the procurement of foods and related supplies needed for distribution, for liaison activities with Perry County and various social service agencies.
Accountability:
The Assistant Director is accountable to the Executive Director, the Chair and NHNFB Board of Directors for functions as determined.
Position Characteristics:
- Part Time Employee (scheduled 30 hours per week, with Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday as usual operating days. Occasional speaking engagements.)

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Assistant Director will be responsible for:
- accurate recording of all financial records. Accounts receivable and payable, donations (food and funds), Pay Pal, etc. QuickBooks is heavily relied upon.
- working with the CPA for our tax filings and reporting.
- submission of bi-weekly payroll.
- a variety of statistical reporting.
- Assisting in seeking, writing, and obtaining grants.
- Assisting in the planning and execution of fund raising.
- Maintaining quality, professional relationships with NHNFB members, volunteers, and staff.
- Maintaining a Serve Safe Food Handler Certificate.
- Website, marketing and DAILY social media updates.
- Working with auditors to provide financial records as required.
- To provide donor tracking and thank-you notifications, and to seek to maximize in-kind and financial support of the NHNFB.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Assistant Director will:
- Assist with the coordination of volunteer, community services, staff scheduling and retention.
- Assist with ensuring all equipment is fully operational and well-maintained.
- Participate in weekly Perry County Commissioner meetings, occasional speaking engagements, and events.
- When requested, to make presentations to churches, civic groups and others regarding the mission of the NHNFB.
- To attend Perry County Commissioner’s meetings when necessary to provide update reports, to share requests, or to respond to specific questions.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- College degree preferred.
Experience:
- Human Services background is a plus.
- Knowledge of QuickBooks.
- Team leadership.
- Experienced in maintaining fiscal responsibility for a business.
Other:
- Community Service/involvement
- Written and verbal agility.
- Desire for advancement and training opportunities.
- Public speaking and presentation experience.

- Maintain Driver’s License and Be Insurable – Must be capable of driving NHNFB vehicles and be insurable by the NHNFB insurance carrier.

Pay: From $30,000.00 per year
