Neighbor to Neighbor of SC is a dedicated nonprofit organization focused on empowering communities through direct support and resources. Our mission is to provide access to the community for adults with disabilities, older adults, and veterans through transportation, pantry delivery, and connectedness.
We offer several flexible volunteer opportunities for those looking to make a meaningful impact:
Driver
As a Volunteer Driver, you will provide essential transportation to seniors and individuals with disabilities, helping them access medical appointments, grocery stores, and other vital services. Your support directly enhances their independence and quality of life.
Responsibilities:
- Provide safe and reliable transportation using your personal vehicle
- Assist clients with entering and exiting the vehicle as needed
- Communicate with the Neighbor to Neighbor team regarding schedules and client needs
- Maintain a compassionate and patient approach with all riders
Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license
- Must be 21 years or older
- Reliable vehicle and a clean driving record
- Punctuality, dependability, and good communication skills
- A commitment to treating all clients with dignity and respect
Senior Companion
As a Senior Companion, you will provide much-needed social engagement and emotional support to older adults who may be experiencing isolation. Your companionship helps improve their mental and emotional well-being.
Responsibilities:
- Visit seniors in their homes to provide conversation and companionship
- Engage in activities such as reading, playing games, or going for short walks
- Offer light assistance with household tasks (e.g., organizing, meal prep)
- Report any concerns regarding a senior’s well-being to Neighbor to Neighbor staff
Qualifications:
- Patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to build meaningful relationships with seniors
- Reliability and a commitment to consistent visits
- No prior experience necessary—just a willingness to connect and care
Office Volunteer
As an Office Volunteer, you will play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of our office. This is a great opportunity to gain nonprofit experience while ensuring smooth communication, organization, and service delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with general office duties such as answering phones, filing, and organizing documents
- Help prepare materials for community outreach and events
- Support staff with administrative tasks and data entry
- Assist in updating client records and databases
- Provide excellent customer service to clients
Qualifications:
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Basic knowledge of Google Workspace applications
- Positive attitude, reliability, and a passion for helping others
- Previous volunteer or administrative experience is a plus, but not required
