Position Summary:
Senior manager of pharmacy strategy and project management shall be charged with successfully managing key strategic projects and new initiatives for pharmacy. Responsible for effective management of projects through the project lifecycle (initiation, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing). Must be adept with the use of and circulation of project management processes, tools and templates, as well as establish and clearly convey project stakeholders roles and responsibilities. Determines scope of work, including project summary, deliverables, hypotheses, intended goals, and what defines project success. Governs the readiness analysis, scheduling, vendor selection, IT and peripheral resources of all upcoming and enhancement initiatives within pharmacy ambulatory care until completion of implementation.

Position Summary:

- Responsible for identifying and assembling project team stakeholders, facilitating project team status update meetings, overseeing individual responsibilities, identifying and managing issues and risks, and developing a schedule to ensure timely completion of the project. Ensures project adheres to quality, compliance, and regulatory standards.
- Proactively works with the project teams to identify and resolve issues, holding teams accountable with assigned tasks, escalating when necessary to business owners and executive sponsors to work through obstacles and ensure project is executed successfully.
- Develops and maintains project documentation including a project charter, project plan, project schedule, communication plan, RAID (risks, action items, issues, and decisions) log, meeting minutes and agendas.
- Develops and implements solutions/processes to ensure efficient and safe delivery of pharmacy services.
- Manages, reviews, and prioritizes the project work schedules with objective to stay on schedule and on budget.
- Ensures each project team has necessary information and documentation to support timely and accurate status reporting and communication to key stakeholders, including senior management
- Conducts workflow and process mapping analysis to identify potential functions for the type of solution support being sought.
- Develop request for proposal, manages responses, analyze results, present findings, and arrange for demonstrations as applicable.
- Interprets technical or complex department requirements including the ability to be detail-oriented with an emphasis on accuracy and delivery of high-quality projects.
- Meets assigned projects and initiatives within specific target dates or investigates alternatives and recommends adjustments as necessary.
- Manages project scope (feasibility, timelines and budget) for multiple projects simultaneously using a recognized framework or methodology.
- Identifies and organizes project tasks, dependencies, critical path and documents on project plan/schedule. Develops and drives project schedule to ensure timetables are met with input from the project team.
- Completes timely project level status reporting to key stakeholders as well as corporate status reporting (when applicable).
- Conducts competitive analyses and research best practices / industry standards for benchmarking purposes.
- Interfaces with all areas affected by the project including end users and vendors.
- Prepares responses and reporting to identified external state agencies (as needed).
- Prepares summaries and supporting documents for internal and external constituents.
- Proficient at problem solving, negotiation, conflict management resolution and interpersonal skills.
- Other responsibilities as directed.
- Bachelor’s degree in health care administration, Public Health, Nursing, or related field required.
- Master’s degree in Health Related/Public Health field preferred/desirable.
- Process improvement certification , e.g. IHI, Lean Six Sigma, etc.
- Minimum of 5 years progressively responsible experience, (preferably in pharmacy, office management, or information technology in a health care setting). Experience may be offset for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree or above who demonstrate proficiency in the areas of responsibility.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience required.
- Expert level proficiency with MS Office suite programs, e.g. Excel, Access, etc.
- Monitors and analyzes assigned project productivity information, adjusts resources and processes as needed to maintain defined targeted goals
- Analyzes current operations to identify and evaluate program strengths and weaknesses in relation to operational effectiveness. Develops strategies and plans for new program development based on analysis of competitive trends, market share data, capital needs and human resource utilization.
- Leads internal implementation team. Depending on the size of the practice and complexity, including hardware and/or software installation, network set up, system configuration and user preference design, testing, and training.
