Position Summary:
The Optical Technician is responsible for various tasks for patient’s aged 2-100, for the maintenance and control of supplies and equipment, and for assigned clerical activities. An Optometrist or Optician supervises the Optical Technician.
Essential Duties:
High School Diploma or G.E.D
Experience:
At least 1 year in an eye glass lab or dispensary.
Skills/ Abilities:
Bilingual Skills Preferred. English/Spanish
PART TIME ROLE
Schedule: 18 hours a week- Flexible
Starting hourly rate: $22.00 up to $33.00 based on experience.

Position Summary:
The Optical Technician is responsible for various tasks for patient’s aged 2-100, for the maintenance and control of supplies and equipment, and for assigned clerical activities. An Optometrist or Optician supervises the Optical Technician.
Essential Duties:
- Manage inventory scanning and tagging of all frames
- Process and track Mass Health orders to ensure timely pick up by patients
- Assists patients with their selection of frames and pick-up deliveries
- Assists with entering orders/scripts into MVE
- Keeps Dispensary and work areas neat and stocked with a variety of frame designs
- Interacts with patients and other staff in a professional and respectful manner, which reflects the needs and concerns of the individual. Consistently provides excellent customer service and makes patients feel welcome. Maintains a positive attitude. Uses communication devices appropriately.
- Effectively communicates with patients/customers regarding wait time and/or delays
- Communicates charges to for frames and lens to patients and to the registration staff.
- Works with the Optician and Optometrist in the selection of frames
- Answers telephones, and calls patients as needed.
- Reports delays in supply orders, safety and equipment problems, and malfunctioning or missing equipment.

Experience:
At least 1 year in an eye glass lab or dispensary.
Skills/ Abilities:
- Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
- Customer service skills.
- Familiarity with use of personal computer in a Windows environment preferred.
