What are the responsibilities and job description for the Early Intervention Child Evaluator position at Neighborhood Alliance?
Position Summary: The Early Intervention Child Evaluator is responsible for completing evaluation and assessment tools, as required under the Help Me Grow-Part C program and the federal regulations for Part C of IDEA, in order to determine the child’s eligibility for Early Intervention Program and need for services. The Evaluator may also, at times, provide on-going services to participating families in the role of Service Coordinator.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Limited supervisory responsibilities to provide administrative support to Service Coordinators.
Essential Job Functions:
· Provides visits to children, 0-3 years of age, with a suspected or diagnosed developmental delay and/or disability or qualifying medical diagnosis.
· Conducts visits in the child/family home or other natural environment(s) where the child participates in his/her daily routines
· Completes evaluation and assessment tools in order to determine a child’s eligibility for HMG Early Intervention program and need for services.
· Facilitate Early Intervention services, from enrollment to exit, as Service Coordinator. (See Service Coordinator Position Description for additional details.)
· Provide administrative and functional support to team members.
· Participate as member of leadership team in order to identify program/staffing needs, enhance & progress service delivery, trouble-shoot concerns that could impact EI team.
· Assume additional responsibilities typically completed by EI Program Director during absences.
· Serve as good stewards and guardians of program quality by utilizing unique position to anticipate and identify concerns impacting service delivery.
· Coordinates completion of all required eligibility determination procedures in accordance with the Part C Eligibility Determination policy.
· Maintains and provides accurate and timely statistical data, records and reports.
· Other duties as assigned.
Necessary Education and Training:
Professional Degree, Bachelor’s Degree in ECE, Social Work, Nursing, Education or a related field – Professional Licensure required. DODD credentialed Developmental Specialist preferred but may be obtained after hire.
· Experience with Battelle Developmental Inventory (BDI-2) and Routines-based Interview helpful.
· 2 years positive work experience with children and/or families preferred
· Experience with low income individuals and families encouraged
· Culturally competent
· Bilingual (English/Spanish) helpful
· Driver’s License and use of a vehicle for daily travel within assigned areas
· Flexibility in order to complete home visits so as to accommodate varying schedules of participating families and contribute to special events promoting agency and/or program.
Typical Working Conditions: This position operates in an office type environment as well as in the home and community of program participants. This position operates both indoors and outdoors on an ongoing basis. Exposure to the elements is common in this position. The employee may be exposed to heat/cold, steam, dust, cigarette smoke, pet dander, bacteria, noise, and communicable diseases.
