Job Summary:
The Mental Health & Behavior Programs Manager will be responsible for building and executing systems and procedures to ensure NCS is providing the most ideal learning environment for our diverse range of students, particularly those students who require Tier III socioemotional support. As a member of the Special Education leadership team, the MHB manager will be an expert in theories of differentiated classroom management, responsive classroom practices, and restorative justice practices. This person will be responsible for building the vision of strong and effective Tier III behavior intervention plans and coaching leaders and staff around the implementation of these plans, including progress monitoring and paraprofessional coaching. The MHB Manager will be responsible for managing, supervising, and supporting a team of school counselors and social workers. This individual will ensure the effective delivery of Tier II and Tier III counseling services, focusing on special education mandates and the implementation of counseling programs. The manager will collaborate with administrators, teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to promote a positive, supportive environment for students. The MHB Manager will work with school teams to create strong Tier III socioemotional support and behavioral systems. This person will provide direct support as needed to our Tier III students.

Leadership & Supervision
- Create and manage systems for school counselor and social worker supervision.
- Provide guidance and professional development opportunities to the mental health team.
- Lead efforts to create and implement mental health programs that align with the school’s goals and objectives.
- Ensure staff members adhere to ethical and legal standards within their practice.
- Ensure risk assessments are conducted at the school with fidelity.
- Oversee the assessment of students’ mental health and counseling needs.
- Ensure appropriate interventions and support plans are developed for students with mental health needs, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral concerns, etc. that affect their schooling
- Provide individual or group counseling services as needed.
- Attend Tier II culture meetings to ensure smooth transition between Tier II and Tier III services as needed
- Develop structure and systems for Tier III data collection and analysis.
- Develop and ensure the standard of excellence for BIPs at NCS.
- Including: Development, training, execution, progress monitoring, follow up, and streamlined communication around each BIP.
- Oversee Tier III Behavior Intervention Plans with culture staff and student-facing stakeholders.
- Observe, trial strategies, and train staff on the plan.
- Coordinate Tier III referrals with Tier II culture team
- Gather and coordinate FBA consent and interviews
- Coordinate observation and data collection plan
- Train teachers in data collection methods
- Coordinate/lead assessments
- Develop safety plans in collaboration with school staff as needed for Tier III students
- Direct observation/data collection for all Tier III referrals
- Write reports for FBA/BIP and submit reports to CSE
- Provide coaching and consultation to culture staff to ensure effective plans are in place and being continuously monitored
- Partner with school leadership on data collection and referral process
- Create a data collection calendar to schedule IEP review dates and observations
- Create teacher resource guides for behavior support, IEP/BIP snapshots, etc.
- Develop “Meet your students” orientations with all teachers to orient them to BIP/IEPs/and Tier III referral process
- Provide live coaching and feedback for teachers on behavior strategies and in-the-moment interventions around specifically tier III and BIPS.
- Perform BIP fidelity checks and provide written feedback around recommended strategies.
- Train leaders and teachers around best practices around Tier III behaviors and supports
- Complete behavioral observation ratings and documentation as provided by the agency to the school.
- Delegate communication between school and outside providers as needed.
- Facilitate communication and coordination around outside programming for scholars as needed.
- Develop crisis response procedures and systems for communication in collaboration with the culture team.
- Assist with crisis behaviors in collaboration with the culture team.
- Ensure the fidelity with which counselors and social workers provide mental health support to scholars.
- Build strong relationships with our families that include heavy communication around scholar progress.
- Work with counselors and social workers to ensure that families are supported and have access to resources.
- Conduct Tier III evaluations for students on an as-needed basis. Including but not limited to: Functional Behavioral Assessments.
- Develop onboarding and training process in collaboration with Coordinators
- Provide ongoing live coaching and feedback
- Perform BIP fidelity checks
- Create performance assessment rating system in collaboration with Coordinators
- Perform continuous performance monitoring and feedback
- Provide updated progress monitoring as needed for all Tier III students
- Assist the Special Education Team as needed with:
- Communication with the CSE
- Leading IEP meetings
- Parent communication around upcoming IEP meetings, evaluations, referrals
- Masters and certification in relevant field (required)
- LCSW, LMSW, LPC, LMHC, LSSP, NCSP, etc.
- Strong data-analysis skills
- Strong organizational skills

- Knowledge of Special Education laws, policies, and procedures
- Strong knowledge of best practices for students with disabilities, specifically Autistic students
- Experience working in charter schools (preferred)
- Bilingual (preferred)
- Certified in CPI (preferred)
Salary : $96,500
