ROLE OVERVIEW and PURPOSE
The Facilities Biomed Technician will support and maintain Neighborhood Healthcare sites and equipment. This role will perform a variety of repairs and/or troubleshooting tasks to complete assigned work orders.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Facilities:
- Receives verbal or written instructions from manager to perform tasks to complete assigned digital work orders
- Shares information relevant to ongoing tasks with supervisors and employees regarding construction and equipment projects
- Performs carpentry, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing repairs, as needed
- Performs minor maintenance or repairs to low voltage cabling systems, including installing new drops through existing facilities, termination of RJ45, RJ11 and Keystone jacks on Cat5, Cat5E, Cat6 or Cat6E cable in T-568B pin out, test new cables for speed and proper pin out
- Responds to emergency service calls at NHC sites
- Ensures all purchase receipts are entered into COUPA within 24 hours of receipt
- Impact patient experience by demonstrating values of Transforming Care, including courteous and helpful behavior and a commitment to accuracy
Equipment:
- Maintain and repair equipment, including ensuring medical and dental equipment meet regulatory requirements for services and annual calibrations
- Assists in the process of procuring, scheduling, and coordinating activities for timely equipment delivery, installation, and transition during relocation and/or move-in projects
- Works cross-functionally to resolve equipment issues or concerns in a timely manner
- Maintains documentation, including change orders, specifications, expenditure records, schedules, correspondence, reports, maintenance records, and other related files
Customer Relations:
- Responds promptly and with caring actions to patients and employees
- Maintains professional working relationships with all levels of staff, clients, and the public
- Cooperates in accomplishing department goals and objectives
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma/GED required
- Four years maintenance or related experience required
- Experience in medical equipment repairs maintenance preferred
- Valid CA driver’s license and proof of valid auto insurance
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including superior composition, typing and proofreading skills
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Knowledgeable about and experience with electrical, plumbing, cabling, and structural in a medical environment
- Ability to complete minor not permit tenant improvements
- Ability to use their own tools
- Ability to use personal cell phone and vehicle for business purposes (monthly cell phone stipend and mileage reimbursement available)
- Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent planning and organizational ability
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
- Ability to work with highly confidential information in a professional and ethical manner
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift/carry 50 lbs/weight
- Ability to bend, kneel, reach, and stand for long periods of time
- Ability to climb ladders and lift/carry boxes, tools, equipment, and materials
- Ability to wear and use proper safety items, such as googles and gloves
COMPLIANCE (Safety & HIPPA)
- Follows all safety procedures as outlined in Neighborhood Healthcare’s Illness and Injury Prevention Plan (IIPP) and report any injuries and/or unsafe conditions immediately
- Maintains current knowledge of policies and procedures as they relate to safe work practices
- Follows all safety procedures and report unsafe conditions
- Uses appropriate body mechanics to ensure an injury free environment
- Familiarity with location of nearest fire extinguisher and emergency exits
- Follows all infection control procedures including blood-borne pathogen protocols
- Maintains privacy of all patients, employee and volunteer information and access such information only on a need-to-know basis for business purposes
- Complies with all regulations regarding corporate integrity and security obligations
- Reports all behavior and/or activity that are unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful
Pay Range: $28.36 - $36.77 per hour, depending on experience.
