What are the responsibilities and job description for the After-School Youth Program Teacher position at Neighborhood House Association?
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of our community’s youth? Neighborhood House Association is seeking a Teacher for our After-School Youth Education Program.
About the Position –
As a member of our Youth Education team, you will be responsible for developing and strengthening the academic, physical, and social skills of a designated group of school-age children. You will implement academic tutoring and enrichment programming, while maintaining close supervision of the children. You will act as a positive role model and mentor, resolving conflict in a respectful manner and encouraging problem-solving. You will develop a working relationship with parents, school teachers, and other program staff.
About You –
You must be available to work 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, during the school year. Though summer availability is not required, additional hours will be available during that time. You should be detail-oriented, a team player, and act professionally. You must have a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two years of experience working with school-age children. College courses in education, social work, psychology, or law enforcement, or lengthy experience in leadership with youth, is preferred. You must possess a valid driver's license, be willing to transport children in a 15 passenger agency van, pass a criminal background check, achieve CPR/First Aid certification, and take part in other professional development opportunities.
