POSITION PURPOSE: The Budget Analyst –will play a pivotal role in supporting NHA’s HeadStart program by tracking expenses, analyzing historical financial data, and leveraging predictive analytics to optimize budget forecasting. This position will ensure the efficient allocation of grant funds, adherence to financial policies, and proactive decision-making to meet program goals effectively.   EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. Examines trend analysis data, estimates salary increases, tax rates, employee benefits and cost.   Maintains direct contact with the Budget Director and Accountant during the budget preparation and budget administration cycles throughout the fiscal year.   Provide regular reports on budget performance, highlighting variances and recommending corrective actions. Develops monthly report by program. Analyze historical spending data to identify patterns and trends. Develop predictive models to forecast future expenses and budget needs, ensuring sustainable program funding. Collaborate with the finance team to integrate predictive insights into the broader organizational budget. Performs difficult and complex analytical work in the fund management decision-making process.   Works with automated financial systems and computer generated financial reports and extracts data from a large database.   Work with program managers and finance teams to implement best practices in financial planning and analysis.   Partner with program directors, managers, and other staff to provide financial insights and support budget decision-making.   Communicate complex financial information clearly and effectively to non-financial stakeholders.   Performs related duties as assigned.   DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:   Knowledge of: Principles and practices of financial forecasting and modeling;   Automated general ledger system, its usage and requirements;   Computer tools and software, particularly as related to statistical analysis and data management.   Strong grasp of budget forecasting methodologies and financial reporting standards.   Understanding of federal and state grant regulations. (plus)   Ability to: Operate a computer and other standard office equipment and software;   Type at a speed sufficient to meet job requirements; Organize, set priorities, take initiative and exercise sound judgment;   Apply and reach decisions in accordance with federal law, regulations and local needs;   Understand and follow written and oral instructions.   Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.   Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in budget analysis, financial planning, or data analytics, preferably in a non-profit or grant-funded environment.   Experience with predictive analytics tools and software is highly desirable.   PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS: The physical and mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by employees to successfully perform the essential functions of this class.
