Reports to: Director of Family Centers
Status: Full-Time, non-exempt
Salary: $20.00 per hour (Grade Level 7), plus generous PTO and benefits package
Additional Compensation: Starting at base rate of pay, plus $1.00 per hour more for bilingual in needed

Program Summary:
Neighborhood House’s two family centers are the foundation of our work to assist families living in at-risk circumstances as they seek social and economic well-being. When you enter our Family Centers, you will find a welcoming and compassionate space that provides crisis intervention, support with multiple resources, and celebrates community. Our Family Centers are culturally-responsive and thoughtfully designed to meet the needs of every member of a family, whether it is a short-term issue or a long-term goal. We use a case management approach to ensure that families receive all that they need and are able to progress with their goals. We work closely with other community partners to make certain that families have the greatest number of resources available to them when they choose to work with us.

The Role and Expectations:
Neighborhood House is seeking a full-time case manager to be our next Family Coach for one of our two Family Centers. Neighborhood House has a staff of nearly 70 people, seven of them among our Family Centers staff. We are a group of dedicated professionals who are passionate about our work and the families and neighborhoods we serve.
In this role, you will co-lead the coordination for one or both of our Family Centers, ensuring that the Center is a welcoming site for all families. You will work closely with Neighborhood House staff and external partners to ensure that a family’s needs are met. You will work closely with families to assist through crisis. This includes in-person meetings, phone calls, and home visits. Internally, you will be part of the case management team and assist with data and evaluation to secure and sustain funding sources that are critical for our work and other duties as assigned.
Accountabilities:
50% Coaching & Case Management
  • Conduct intakes and ongoing meetings with participants in-home, in the community and in-center
  • Complete program assessments for determining participant needs and identifying program goals
  • Research community resources with capacity to assist participant needs
  • Work with families to create strategies for addressing access to basic resources and social supports
  • Assist participants to develop a safety plan (as needed) and provide culturally responsive services that align with the participants safety plan
  • Work with families at-risk of out of home displacement to strengthen parent-child relationships and parenting skills
  • Address language barriers to assist participants whose first language is not English
25% Center Management
  • Receive, organize, stock center donations
  • Recycle and discard unwanted items
  • Assist with assigning volunteer and intern duties
  • Assist participants to shop in center pantries
  • Complete referrals to partnering resources such as My Very Own Bed, Bridging, MN Sure or College Bound
  • Coordinate monthly family events for families in collaboration with schools and other organization departments
25% Data & Record Keeping
  • Respond to basic needs inquiries by phone, email, in-person, or referral database
  • Maintain documentation and files for each individual participant
  • Record all service related interactions with participants
  • Keep inventory of donations distributed to participants
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, related field, or equivalent related experience
  • Working knowledge and experience working with family systems, including parenting and child development; knowledge of immigrant/refugee needs; familiarity with community resources
  • Strong commitment to serving children and families
  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with people of diverse ethnic, economic, racial, and cultural backgrounds
  • Proficient interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills in English; proficient in Hmong, Karen, Spanish, or Somali a plus.
Requirements
  • Adhere to mandating reporter regulations
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean record with the ability to drive agency vehicles;
  • Must be able to safely lift a minimum of 30 pounds
