Program Summary:
In St. Paul, Neighborhood House plays a critical role in supporting families facing food insecurity. Each month, more than 1,000 families access the food they need at Neighborhood House. In each of our two free food markets, we strive to offer nutritious and culturally connected food so that families can choose food they are excited to cook and eat! In addition to our two free food markets, Neighborhood House offers year-round fresh produce distributions as well as SNAP screening and application assistance. The Food Support team aims to create a space that lets families know they are welcome to shop with us. In addition to our dedicated staff, we have a committed group of volunteers and social work interns who increase our capacity to assist families accessing food.

Position Summary:
As the Food Market Site Coordinator at our new Neighborhood House on Montreal location, you will oversee the daily operations at the Montreal food market Monday - Wednesday. This includes directly supervising and maintaining schedules for a total of 30 volunteers (5 per shift). As a site supervisor, you will also conduct participant interviews and assessments to learn about each family’s needs, offer referrals both internally and externally, and record data for our records. In addition, this role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing year-round Fresh Produce Distributions. Fresh Produce Distribution events generally occur four times per month in the summer (July – October) and once per month in the winter (November – May). This role will work closely with the Food Market Supervisor and directly report to the Director of Food Support Programs. This position works with the rest of the food support team to ensure efficient food shelf operations and above all else, create a
welcoming space for families who shop with us.
Accountabilities:
Supervision:
- Oversee the day-to-day work of volunteers at our Neighborhood House on Montreal food market and support volunteers to provide shoppers with a food market experience that is welcoming and dignified
- Work in partnership with the Volunteer Engagement team to welcome and train all new Neighborhood House on Montreal Food Market volunteers
- Manage the Neighborhood House on Montreal volunteer schedule and ensure adequate volunteer coverage
Coordination:
- Plan and execute year-round Fresh Produce Distributions
- Coordinate with facilities (internal and external)
- Organize transportation and equipment
- Place produce food orders for events
- Develop promotional materials in conjunction with the Communication team
- Coordinate with community partners to organize tabling opportunities at each event
- Work closely with the Volunteer Engagement team to ensure that volunteer levels meet workload demands of distributions
- Work with the Director of Food Support to maintain budget and track expenditures
Direct Service:
- Conduct intake assessments with participants using a database called ClientTrack
- Present participants with detailed information about food market offerings; offer referral assistance to additional Neighborhood House programs and external community resources to meet the family’s needs
Data and Evaluation:
- Accurately complete and maintain participant files, both electronic and paper, as required by Neighborhood House and funders
- Maintain thorough and confidential records, adhering to data privacy laws and Neighborhood House ethical standards.
- Implement program evaluation tools and track progress using relevant database(s)
Team and Organization Expectations:
- Maintain professional communication with staff, volunteers, interns, participants, and partners
- Proficient interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Work effectively, cross departmentally
- Attend and participate in departmental, agency and external meetings, trainings, committees and events as required
- Ensure safe food handling procedures, proper maintenance of equipment/appliances in order to comply with license requirements
- Other duties as identified for the success of the Food Support programs and Neighborhood House
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or 2 years of experience providing social services in a non-profit or other related customer service field
- At least 1 year of previous supervision experience preferred
- Strong commitment to serving families facing food insecurity and a sensitivity to the stress that may appear for families using the food support program
- Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with people of diverse ethnic, economic, social, racial, and cultural backgrounds
- Must be able to lift items up to 35 pounds
- Ability to occasionally work evenings and weekends as required
- Must have a driver’s license, a clean driving record, and ability to drive agency vehicles
