Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Real Estate Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, finance, and real estate transactions, with expertise in managing financial records, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. This role requires attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and reconcile financial records for real estate transactions, including purchases, sales, leases, and property management.
- Prepare financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for real estate holdings.
- Monitor and manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounts.
- Process rent payments, security deposits, and other property-related transactions.
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting for real estate assets, including expense tracking and variance analysis.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, real estate laws, and accounting standards (GAAP, IRS).
- Collaborate with property managers, brokers, and investors to provide financial insights and recommendations.
- Conduct financial audits and prepare supporting documentation for external auditors.
- Analyze financial data to assess the profitability of real estate investments and recommend improvements.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, tax laws, and regulations affecting real estate accounting.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the real estate industry.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Yardi, MRI, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of real estate finance, lease accounting, and tax regulations.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial modeling.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
