Opening for Part-time Construction Assistant working approximately 10-25 hours a week.
$18.00 - $22.00 an hour based on experience
Work Locations: Smithfield, Ut
Must be able to work Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 4:30 pm to 9:00 pm with Saturdays from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.

General Responsibilities
- Assist Construction Supervisors in managing the self-help build program by providing technical assistance and guidance to homeowners building their own homes.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- 1 year or more of experience in basic construction and the management of groups and teams through projects preferred.
Special Qualifications:
- A current Utah driver’s license and ability to drive. Must not have any DUI/ARR within the past five (5) years and less than two (2) moving violations within the past 24 months.
- Ability to communicate with owner-builders and manage time/schedules effectively.

- Assist in the management of worksite safety, maintaining material and equipment, and construction schedules.
- Works with group participants to help ensure clear and open communication, that technical information is understood, and helps to manage interpersonal conflict.
- Assist in the organization of home-owners into work crews for maximum efficiency of manpower and materials.
Technical (Task Items)
- Work with the Construction Supervisor to train and supervise groups of families in the construction of their homes using the mutual self-help construction method.
- Assist homeowners with construction related questions with guidance from the Construction Supervisor as needed.
- Maintain job site records as required.
- Assist Construction Supervisors in related activities as requested.
Work Environment:
- The position performs primarily at outdoor construction sites in all weather conditions. Tasks require a variety of physical activities, such as walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, crawling, climbing on ladders, talking, hearing, and seeing.
- Work tasks require common eye, hand, finger, leg and foot dexterity.
- Mental tasks require the use of memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, and discriminating thinking.
- The position requires a valid driver’s license and ability to drive. Must not have any DUI/ARR within the past five (5) years and less than two (2) moving violations within the past 24 months.
- The position requires compliance with applicable Neighborhood Housing Solution’s policies.
