Job Summary:
The Janitorial Technician will perform a variety of heavy cleaning tasks to maintain patient exam rooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, and other assigned areas of the health centers. They perform cleaning functions following established protocols to achieve quality standards and facility objectives; operate a variety of cleaning and floor care equipment and other necessary tools, products, and supplies; and gather and dispose of trash and waste materials to be disposed of properly.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Creates requisitions for housekeeping supplies, delivers, and replenishes supply closets. Stages housekeeper carts with supplies, chemicals, and mops. Delivers and stocks in designated storage areas.

Dust mops floors and corridors as assigned.

Inspects cleaning equipment and performs scheduled preventative maintenance.

Maintains hard surface floors by following the correct processes for daily and periodical floor care. Evaluates what process is needed to maintain hard surface floors and maintaining them to organizational standards. Follows correct stripping and refinishing procedures and daily hard surface floor care. Inspects cleaning equipment and performs scheduled preventative maintenance.

Maintains soft surface floors (carpet) by following the correct processes for daily and periodical carpet care. Evaluates what process is needed to maintain carpets. Is knowledgeable about spotting techniques as demonstrated by maintaining floors to organizational standards.

Clean assigned patient/non-patient areas such as lobby, restrooms, and furniture daily cleaning of assigned patient/non-patient areas and equipment according to a 10-Step cleaning procedure.

Transports regular waste, medical waste, and linen to appropriate collection sites from patient rooms, bathrooms, and other areas. Soiled utility rooms and waste carts should be always kept clean. PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) must be worn for all staff while performing cleaning responsibilities or transporting waste.

Qualifications
Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

Education and Experience:

2 years cleaning experience, preferred.
Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of walking, standing, leaning, and bending.

Able to reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and squat.

Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less) and adequate depth perception, peripheral vision, and color vision.

Far vision (clarity at 20 feet or more).

Able to hear adequately to decipher spoken word, sounds, alarms, etc.
-
Able to express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word and to convey detailed spoken instructions to other workers accurately and clearly.

Able to use hands and fingers for fine manipulation to touch, pick, pinch, and grasp and perform repetitive motions.

Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.

Must be able to navigate various departments of the organization’s physical premises.
Other Requirements:

Must be at least 18 years of age.

New Hires are required to pass pre-employment background check and drug testing (effective 11/1/2022).

Current Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card or must pass fingerprint clearance within 7 days following hire.

Valid and current driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Ability to travel as needed
