Job Summary:
The Nurse Practitioner provides and manages direct medical evaluation, diagnosis, procedures, and care for patients in accordance with evidence-based treatment guidelines within a recognized area of practice.
Duties/Responsibilities:

Provides and manages direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment.

Prescribes certain pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions.

Reviews and updates medical records in compliance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.

Refers patient to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate.

Interacts with patients and families to keep them informed and engaged in the decisions and direction of health care.

Provides counseling education and resource information on wellness, prevention of illness and health maintenance.

Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required.

Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.

Abides by and enforces all PPE standards for clinical staff.

Attends, participates, and/or assists in meetings, trainings, community outreach activities, continuing education opportunities, and other activities as required.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care.

Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
-
Knowledge of community medical diagnostic and patient care services in area of medical expertise.

Knowledge of relevant drugs and non-pharmaceutical patient care aids and ability to prescribe dosages and instruct patients in correct usage.

Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in area of expertise.

Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.

Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to speak English and Spanish preferred.
Education and Experience:
Required:
-
Master’s degree in nursing-related field (MS, MN, or MSN) from a National League of Nursing (NLN) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

National Certification as Nurse Practitioner from an approved national certifying agency.
-
Certified Nurse Practitioner as aligned with the Arizona Board of Nursing scope of practice for nurse practitioners.

Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certification.
-
Basic Life Support certification.
Preferred:
-
X waivered.
-
Valid and current Arizona Nurse Practitioner license with Prescriptive Authority.

1 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
Other Requirements:

New Hires are required to pass pre-employment background check and drug testing (effective 11/1/2022).

Current Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card or must pass fingerprint clearance within 7 days following hire.
