Position Overview:
We are seeking a flexible, organized, and caring individual to join our team as a Floating Teacher/Office Assistant. This is a dual-role position that provides both classroom support and administrative assistance in the school office. The ideal candidate is someone who loves working with children and brings a collaborative team-player.
Duties
Floating Teacher Responsibilities:
- Provide classroom support across all age groups as needed (ages 6 weeks through 6 years old)
- Learn and adapt to the routines and needs of each classroom
- Support students? development across cognitive, physical, social/emotional, and communication domains
- Step in for breaks, planning time, aftercare or when staff are absent
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers and follow Lead Teacher guidance
- Assist with nature-based activities and outdoor learning
- Provide childcare during inservice and conference days
- Maintain a nurturing and respectful environment for all students
- Follow all state licensing regulations and staff handbook policies
- Engage in ongoing professional development
Office Assistant Responsibilities:
- Answer phones and relay messages to the Director
- Manage the Director?s calendar and assist in scheduling tours and meetings
- Track faculty absences and PTO
- Distribute and manage student registration packets and documentation
- Maintain up-to-date student and staff files, Gmail groups, and parent lists
- Sort and distribute mail
- Scan, file, and send faculty documents to BFIS
- Order and track school supplies (including Amazon Subscribe & Save)
- Keep the office clean and organized
- Provide classroom coverage during lunch, nap, or aftercare when possible
- Maintain first aid kits and student health records
- Report any building or grounds concerns to the Director
- Oversee cleaning schedule and staff
- Assist with other administrative tasks as assigned
Requirements
Qualifications:
Candidates must meet one of the following requirements (or be willing to obtain within 1 year of start of employment):- A Vermont Early Childhood Career Ladder Level One or Two Certificate; or
- A current CDA (Child Development Associate) and 12 months experience working with children under grade 3; or
- A Human Services Program Certificate with a focus on child development and 12 months relevant experience; or
- Completion of Fundamentals for Early Childhood Professionals or Vermont Afterschool Essentials Certificate and 12 months experience; or
- At least 3 college credits in child/human development or school-age care and education, plus 12 months experience
- Ability to multi-task and stay organized in a busy school environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfort working both independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Willingness to engage with children in outdoor settings year-round
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
