What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Technician position at Neighborhood Veterinary Centers - Nederland?
Neighborhood Veterinary Centers (NVC)
Position: Veterinary Technician
Schedule: Full-time
Welcome to the Neighborhood
At NVC, we can sum up our mission with three simple words: It’s about time. We take the time to get to know every pet and their family – because nobody should feel like they’re putting their loved one in the hands of a stranger. We take the time to check on our patients and adjust treatment plans, so every pet is always on the right track. And we take the time to ensure the small-town values and details that got us here are always present in what we do.
From recent graduates to seasoned professionals, every team member who joins our family believes in taking the time. That’s how we bring innovation and heart together to give our communities the very best – and our employees the promise of a fulfilling career unlike any other in the veterinary field.
The Veterinary Technician We’re Looking For
You will be a pawtner to our veterinarians, helping to support them in upholding high-quality care, advocating for pets and educating clients. This position requires you to know the fine nuances between different animals. For example, you should understand that dogs have owners and cats have staff. You should also understand that your calling goes beyond a job title – and you’re not only willing, but excited to step up to the challenge.
What Your Day Will Look Like:
· Being an extra set of eyes, ears and hands for our veterinarians, ensuring top-of-the-line care and maximizing productivity.
· Pitching in with the day-to-day functions of the hospital while communicating seamlessly with veterinarians, veterinary medical teams and other personnel to maintain the flow of patients.
· Taking on a supporting role in surgery through technical skills and other assistance within the guidelines of Veterinary State Practice Acts.
· Keeping clients informed and engaged, detailing and advising on unique pet health concerns, preventive care, medications, and other treatments as needed.
· Gathering relevant information and history from clients to maintain proper and complete medical charts.
· Following safety protocols, from restraining techniques to the sterilization of exam rooms.
· Fostering growth and mentorship among other team members.
Sound like the place for you? We’re so happy to hear it. Just a few more details.
Passion Over Pedigree
Of course, being a Veterinary Technician requires AVMA-certified credentials, skill, dedication and a desire for continuing education. That said, there is no substitute for passion, soul and the empathy it takes to care for animals. As important as on-paper qualifications can be, at the end of the day, we seek out Vet Techs who care most about delivering exceptional client and pet experiences, every day.
Our six Core Values: Accountability, Compassion, Excellence, Innovation, Integrity and Teamwork form the foundation for everything we do. NVC team members embrace and live by the Core Values, applying them through every action from advocacy to technical skill.
Benefits (because we care for those who care)
Just like we believe our patients deserve the best, we want you to know how much we care about you, too. That’s why we offer a diverse range of benefits and programs, including personal wellness and professional development, that help you take care of yourself and your family.
We’re All About You
When you join the NVC team, you’ll see that the competitive salary is only the beginning. We offer savings, health and insurance benefits, including 401(k) participation and employee discounts on pet care. Plus, you’ll enjoy medical, vision, dental, life and disability insurance based on eligibility.
We’re transparent here: We know that like any profession, working in pet healthcare can be stressful sometimes. Our work-life balance benefits and programs – like paid vacation – will help you rest up and recharge when you need it.
The Sky’s the Limit
Do you want to make the most rewarding move of your career? Of course you do (and you deserve it). Newly certified and experienced Vet Techs alike find that opportunities are abound at NVC. Whichever direction you want to grow, we are here to support it. Some of our past Techs have participated in:
· Performance development plans that help you focus and achieve your career goals.
· Continuing education (on us!)
· Community involvement and enrichment activities.
And that’s just a snapshot. Bring us your ideas – we are always ready to hear them.
We’re invested in finding the right Veterinary Technician, because we know that you’ll make a huge impact at NVC. In return, we commit to supporting the wellness of our people and our profession.
