Position Summary:
This role of the Crew Leader is critical to delivering high-quality painting services and requires a balance of technical expertise and leadership abilities. The Crew Leader oversees a team of workers to ensure the successful completion of fence staining and other projects. This role involves planning, organizing, and executing tasks while maintaining high-quality standards, ensuring safety protocols, and meeting project deadlines. The ideal candidate demonstrates leadership, excellent communication skills, and technical expertise in painting.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Supervision:
- Manage and supervise a team of workers, assigning tasks based on skill level and project needs.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and support to crew members to improve performance and efficiency.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Communicate with their supervisor if one of their crew members appears to need additional training or is repeatedly showing up late or displays other behavior that might require disciplinary action.
2. Project Planning and Execution:
- Review project specifications, maps, and work orders
- Develop and follow a work schedule to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Monitor progress and quality throughout the project, making adjustments as needed.
- Any other related tasks at the direction of the Supervisor.
3. Technical Expertise:
- Prepare surfaces for painting, including power washing, cleaning, and sanding.
- Apply paint, stain, or coatings with precision using brushes, rollers, or sprayers.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to painting and equipment.
4. Quality Control:
- Inspect work to ensure it meets company standards and exceeds customer expectations.
- Address any issues promptly to maintain high-quality results.
- Inspect property for drops of paint or overspray that need to be cleaned up.
5. Safety and Compliance:
- Enforce safety protocols to protect crew members, customers, and property.
- Maintain and care for tools, equipment, and materials to ensure safety and longevity.
6. Customer Communication:
- Serve as the primary point of contact with customers on-site, addressing questions and concerns.
- Provide updates on project status and manage any changes to the scope of work.
7. Administrative Tasks:
- Occasionally provide quotes to potential customers.
- Report progress and challenges to management as needed.
- Collect payment when completing a resident’s yard.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to climb over 4 foot fence
- Valid driver's license.
- Have your own vehicle and ability to transport paint and equipment.
- Proven experience in residential, commercial, or industrial painting.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred, but not required.
- Strong knowledge of painting techniques, materials, and tools.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to read and interpret maps and residential quotes.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor and work in various environments.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices.
Expectations:
- Arrive at the company storage location early, before your crew is scheduled to meet at the job site, so that you can be prepared to deliver all necessary materials and arrive on time to the job site.
- At the end of the day, return all materials back to company storage, and clean out the paint sprayer, by pumping water through it.
- Lead by example with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Communicate effectively with team members, management, and customers.
- Adapt to changes in project scope or conditions with a solution-oriented mindset.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and uphold the company’s reputation for quality, reliability, and friendliness.
Job Type: Temporary
Pay: $26.00 - $33.00 per hour
