As a Tax Accountant at Neighborly, a typical day for you will include:
- Ensure accurate, timely filing and payment of sales and use tax returns, and property tax returns monthly along with timely payment of federal, state, and local income tax returns/filings.
- Prepares and reviews detailed balance sheet account reconciliations, researching and resolving any discrepancies for tax accounts.
- Collaborate proactively with other departments to ensure accuracy and resolve issues.
- Provide excellent customer service by building, supporting, and maintaining relationships with various levels of team members and management within the Neighborly brands.
- Maintain sales tax software and other tax-related technology solutions.
- Provide support for financial statement audits and special tax related projects as needed.
- Scan and index documents.
- Perform other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classification other than their own.

- Clear and concise communication skills
- A proven track record of accuracy in complex tax returns (sales & use, property, income).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve tax issues proactively.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and tasks while maintaining accuracy and organization.
- Build strong relationships and clearly communicate complex tax information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Take initiative, be self-motivated, and excel in a demanding environment.
- Uphold ethical standards and maintain a trustworthy demeanor.
- Positive attitude and sense of humor are a must!
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.
- 2 to 5 years of related experience and/or training is required.
- Experience with ERP/financial systems (D365, Concur, Avalara)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Competitive Pay: Commensurate with experience
- Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM. Hybrid schedule- Irving or Waco, TX
