Position Summary: Crew Foreman is responsible for the supervision and coordination of site personnel and subcontractors, the reporting of all relevant site activities, and managing the quality of work performed. Crew Foreman is also responsible for completion of each project, from start to finish, on-time, within budget, with exceptional quality and customer service to provide customers with a superior finished tank product.

Crew Foreman Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Instruct others as well as use a variety of hand & power tools, fixtures, work instructions and other equipment to correctly assemble bolted tank systems.

  • Understand and ensure compliance of OHSA, MSHA, Environmental Management, and other Safety regulations as well as supervising the maintenance of work areas and equipment in a safe and organized manner.

  • Understand and ensure compliance of Company Quality and Method of Construction standards.

  • Identify and report any defects, mistakes, errors, contamination or variations from project plans to appropriate Management personnel.

  • Ensure all site resources (labor, machinery, materials, subcontractors etc.) are effectively utilized and monitored in order to achieve timely completion of projects.

  • Upon completion of the task, ensure all appropriate rental equipment is promptly off rent.

  • Ensure all interested parties are promptly provided with any relevant documentation received from either the client or authorities

  • Ensure the appropriate safety equipment is worn by site personnel at all times.

  • Prior to the commencement of tank construction, perform an on-site Job Safety Analysis to gain an understanding of the relevant project hazards, specifications and other relevant concerns.

  • On an ongoing basis, monitor all work against specifications to ensure the continuing quality and accuracy of work performed.

  • Complete and submit daily reports and quality checklists properly and in a timely manner.

  • Promptly and routinely submit photos illustrating progress of work, site conditions, jobsite housekeeping, etc.

  • Lead crew members in weekly safety/toolbox meetings to ensure safe work practices.

  • Utilize and comply with methods of production, guidelines and requirements according to established ISO 9001 policies.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Crew Foreman Skills and Specifications:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; with the ability to effectively communicate and instruct others with complex commercial or technical information.

  • Have extensive training in or be able to obtain competent certification in operation of material handling mobile equipment, rigging/crane operation, and other critical operational functions.

  • Able to manage multi-task work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Able to work proactively and independently on a broad variety of projects.

  • Accomplished ability to read and comprehend blueprints and/or sketches.

  • Demonstrated understanding of mobile devices, such as I-Phone and I-Pad, with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel, Google Suite, and mobile apps, as needed.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills.

  • Solid problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to contribute and work in a team environment.

  • Ability to demonstrate and inspect work for accuracy and thoroughness to ensure first quality of work.

  • Ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with people in the course of work.

  • Willingness to work additional hours in order to meet tight deadlines.

  • Able to travel in the course of work approximately 90% of the time. 

Crew Foreman Education and Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED) with 3 to 5 years of experience as a qualified and competent tradesperson. Associate Degree (2-yr) in Construction Management or a related field preferred.

  • Have current or obtain MSHA training certificate within the first 30 days of employment.

  • Have current or obtain OSHA-10 hour training within the first 30 days of employment.

  • Have current or obtain OSHA-30 hour training within the first year of employment.

  • Have current or obtain First Aid certification within 6 months of employment. 

  • Have or obtain a valid Class A CDL driver’s license issued within the United States within 6 months of employment.

  • Have or obtain a United States Passport within 6 months of employment.

  • Minimum of 5 years previous experience in bolted steel tank erection and/or metal working (such as cutting, welding, grinding or finishing.)

Crew Foreman Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of Crew Foreman, the employee is continually required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Crew Foreman Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of Crew Foreman, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
