Summary:
As a preschool teacher, you will play a crucial role in nurturing the development of young children aged 3 to 5 years. You will create a safe and engaging learning environment, plan and implement age-appropriate activities, and foster social, emotional, and cognitive growth. This position requires a deep understanding of early childhood education, patience, creativity, and a passion for working with young children.
Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development: Following the Creative Curriculum resources provided, you will plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum that promotes early learning, including activities that focus on literacy, math, science, art, and social skills.
Classroom Management: Maintain a well-organized and inviting classroom environment that encourages exploration and creativity while ensuring safety and hygiene standards are met.
Lesson Planning: Using the Creative Curriculum and other tools available, you will work with the preschool team to create weekly lesson plans that align with educational objectives and goals, adapting activities to suit individual children's needs and interests.
Observation and Assessment: Conduct ongoing observations and assessments of each child's progress and development, record information in each child’s portfolios, and use this information to tailor your teaching approach for each child as an individual.
Individualized Learning: Identify and address the unique needs and abilities of each child in the classroom, fostering their growth and development.
Parent Communication: Establish strong, positive communication with parents or guardians and provide regular updates on their child's progress, successes, and challenges.
Behavior Management: use positive behavior management techniques and strategies such as redirection, logical and natural consequences, and problem-solving skills to encourage appropriate behavior, self-awareness, and empathy toward others.
Health and Safety: Ensure the health and safety of all children in your care by adhering to safety protocols, administering first aid when necessary, and maintaining a clean and sanitary environment.
Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in early childhood education by attending workshops conferences, and participating in ongoing professional development. All training is paid for by Employer.
Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other preschool staff and administrators to create a cohesive and supportive educational environment.
Qualifications:
Associate's in Early Childhood Education or a related field, Or CDA related to preschool-age care, Or Step 6 in the Oregon Registry
Strong knowledge of child development and early childhood education principles.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience, compassion, and a genuine love for working with young children.
Creativity and the ability to design engaging and age-appropriate activities.
Problem-solving skills and adaptability.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
CPR and First Aid certification. (can be provided)
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry children as needed.
