Neighbourly Pharmacy is looking for a Contract Merchandising Analytics Data Scientist to join our expanding Business Analytics team, to support the continued growth and planning of our over 300 acquired Pharmacy locations across Canada! We have support offices located in ON, MB and SK, however this role can be located anywhere in Canada.

Job Description:
Neighbourly is seeking a contract Merchandising Analytics Data Scientist for a one (1) year contract with the objective to become a permanent position within the organization. The right candidate will leverage advanced analytics and machine learning techniques to drive actionable insights for our retail merchandising strategies—with a special focus on optimizing planograms and enhancing pricing and procurement decisions. Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams (merchandising, procurement, pricing, and IT), you’ll analyze complex datasets, build predictive models, and develop interactive dashboards to improve product placement, pricing strategies, and procurement efficiency. This is an exciting opportunity for a data science professional with 2–3 years of experience who is passionate about applying data-driven solutions in a dynamic retail environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Data Analysis & Modeling:
Collect, clean, and analyze retail merchandising data related to planograms, pricing, and procurement.
Develop predictive models and machine learning algorithms to optimize product placement and pricing strategies, as well as to support procurement decisions.
Insight Generation:
Translate complex data into actionable business insights and strategic recommendations for merchandising and procurement teams.
Create and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using visualization tools, with a focus on MicroStrategy to highlight planogram performance and pricing effectiveness.
Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with merchandising, procurement, and IT teams to define data requirements and ensure data integrity.
Present findings and model results to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and compelling manner, emphasizing the impact on planogram optimization and pricing strategies.
Quality & Continuous Improvement:
Implement robust data validation processes and continuously monitor model performance to ensure accuracy in planogram and pricing analytics.
Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in retail analytics, focusing on innovative solutions for planogram optimization and pricing procurement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field. A Master’s degree is an asset.
2–3 years of hands-on experience in a data science or analytics role, preferably with exposure to retail merchandising or consumer products.
Proficiency in Python (or R) for data analysis and model development.
Strong SQL skills and experience working with large, complex datasets.
Familiarity with visualization tools, with a preference for MicroStrategy.
SKILLS:
Solid understanding of machine learning techniques and predictive analytics.
Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Strong problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail.
