The Neill-Cochran House Museum seeks a museum professional with strong business, communication, and managerial skills to serve as Business and Programming Director. The Business and Programming Director oversees the day to day running of the Museum and staffing, in addition to its general business operations, and public and rental programs. Strong candidates will have solid administrative and writing skills in addition to creativity, event and program development experience, and an entrepreneurial spirit to ensure the continued development and production of the Museum’s innovative and diverse programming. This job requires flexibility in work schedule, with frequent evening and weekend obligations.
Salary: $46,000.
Job Responsibilities
- Serve as primary point of contact and manager for Museum administrative office
- Sustain and develop programming for varied and diverse audiences (both adult and family)
- Cultivate, contract, produce and serve as the lead contact for events and field trips with creative/arts collaborators and schools/homeschool parents.
- Manage billing, contracting, and the coordination of staffing for venue rental program and vendor relationships. Manage museum calendar of events and rentals for the Museum
- Maintain database of donors and members, prepare lists of donors and members for dues renewals and membership and fundraising campaigns. Work with office staff on the development and deployment of media messaging related to all campaigns, including postal mailings, emails, and social media
- Assist NSCDA-TX Registrar and Assistant Treasurer with maintaining the roster of NSCDA-TX Dames. Maintain and update the roster on the NSCDA-TX website as needed.
- Assist the Executive Director and the NSCDA-TX Treasurer with maintaining and updating the budget at regular intervals as required
- Assist the Executive Director in the development of seasonal and popup exhibits for the museum.
- Provide guided tours across multi-level, multi-structure historic site
Primary Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with planning public events and/or performances
- Experience with public speaking
- Experience with facility operations including ordering, vendor relationships, and point of sale systems
- Willingness regularly to work evenings and weekends
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Museum Studies, History, or Historic Preservation
- Experience with membership management/CRM platform
- Experience with Canva and or Adobe Suite or similar
- K-12 education programming experience
- 2 years of managerial experience leading a team of 4 or more people
- 4 years museum experience
- Graphic design experience
