3nd shift - additional $3.50 shift differential

Position Summary
The Assistant Operator supports the set up and operation of a press or coater as well as support equipment; Supports preparation of work zone and components before setups and during operation; Supports loading and unloading of components during setup; Obtains cardboard packaging, forms boxes, prints labels, packs finished material into boxes, and seals entire unit when finished.
Responsibilities
Compliance with all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS), standards, regulations, and rules
Direct participation in EHS training, safety observations, and hazard identification
Seeks and proactively implements Continuous Improvement (CI) activities through teamwork and CI process participation
Proactively monitor and document product quality during all phases of operations
Identifies and loads or unloads raw materials and finished goods (ex: PS Stock, Paper, Boxes, Cores)
Builds & labels boxes and pallets, then packs and seals as needed
Moves pallets, stacks them, and shrink wraps in preparation for shipment
Operates fan folder, sheeter, bagger, tape machine, turret, or other finishing equipment
Directly supports the setup of the press/coater and the turret/sheeter/folder or other finishing equipment
Preparation, testing, and application of adhesives, inks, releases, or other chemistry to support operations
Measure and adjust pH, viscosity, and color of ink, varnish, adhesive, or other chemistry.
Mount printing plates and dies onto cylinders
Assemble components to be put on prep carts to expedite machine setup
Select, identify, insert, and remove plates, aniloxes or gravure cylinders from presses as well as components from turrets or finishing equipment
Properly clean & store aniloxes, gravure cylinders, or printing plates
Read and understand job instructions and supporting documentation
Cover a running machine during breaks or extended gaps during the day
Maintain 6S housekeeping standards of work zones and walkways
Directly supports training and cross training of other coworkers
Supports inspection and rework of materials as needed
Contributes to a team effort by proactively assisting coworkers
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Manufacturing experience preferred
High School Diploma or GED
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Basic computer and math skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
Ability to read scale within 1/64
Ability to enter data legibly and accurately into forms as well as computers
Ability to read, write, interpret, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos. Examples include safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and operating manuals
Ability to read and understand work orders and ask questions
Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and all levels of management
Ability to work as a team with others to meet business requirements
Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions
Regular exposure to manufacturing environment with one or more unpleasant hazardous conditions including but not limited to exposure to dust, dirt, high noise levels, chemicals more than 50% of the work time.
Ability to lift products up to 50 lbs multiple times per day
Ability to repetitively lift 25 lbs frequently
Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time
Other physical demands include climbing, crouching, bending, reaching, stooping, etc.
Continuous contact with other people requiring communications via face-to-face, orally by telephone and various written methodologies
Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or 20lbs of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Standing: Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time
Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to others accurately, loudly, or quickly.
