As the Chemical Process Engineer, you will deliver new product growth and technical excellence in the coated products business by driving the innovation and execution of adhesive and coating projects from concept to market launch. You will be responsible to sustain and improve existing product performance while supporting process improvements across operational and manufacturing functions to ensure best-in-class quality and efficiency.


Location: South Plainfield NJ - 6 Ingersoll Rd, South Plainfield NJ, 07080

Hours:  Monday – Friday 8:00 AM  – 4:30 PM

Organizational Development (20%)

  • Forge Strategic Connections: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders essential to the role's success, ensuring alignment and collaboration across the organization from day one.
  • Streamlined Project Management: Develop and execute clear project and communication plans with regular touchpoints, fostering transparency and driving measurable results.

Technical Excellence (80%)

  • Deliver Tangible Value: Achieve material cost savings through a robust pipeline of opportunities spanning carbonless, specialty, application tape, and extruded film products.
  • Drive Cost Optimization: Identify and implement solutions across product lines to ensure sustainable year-over-year cost savings and operational efficiency.
  • Innovate with Purpose: Collaborate with suppliers, customers, and the commercial team to integrate cutting-edge materials, technologies, and sustainable practices that meet market demands and enhance product offerings.
  • Enhance Product Quality: Partner with Quality Engineering to drive continuous improvement and achieve superior SP Q-metrics.
  • Provide Expert Support: Deliver technical guidance on formulations, coatings, and material specifications while addressing compliance, certifications, and customer requirements.
  • Proactive Risk Mitigation: Work with purchasing to reduce costs, address raw material challenges, and maintain secure adhesive formulation databases.
  • Champion Safety and Sustainability: Prioritize safety and environmental stewardship in all operations.
  • Fuel Growth Initiatives: Lead transformative projects, from competitive product evaluations to prototype development, aligned with enterprise growth strategies.
  • Collaborative Innovation: Partner with marketing, suppliers, and industry stakeholders to translate customer needs into functional product specifications, launching projects from feasibility to commercialization via the Stage Gate Process.

The ideal candidate will have experience in formulation design with emphasis on adhesives, a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Polymer or Material Science related disciplines, and 4 years of leveraging new and existing technology platforms leading to profitable growth.  Advanced degree is a plus.  Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally.
