Maintenance Supervisor
Appvion is seeking a hands-on and results-driven Maintenance Supervisor to lead the maintenance team in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all manufacturing and mobile equipment in the plant. This role requires extensive experience in process industry manufacturing, high-speed equipment, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM). You will oversee maintenance activities, drive continuous improvement, and foster a strong safety culture while optimizing equipment performance and reliability.
What You’ll Do:
- Champion a zero-injury safety culture by enforcing safe work practices and leading safety initiatives.
- Direct and manage the maintenance department in alignment with the company's strategic plan.
- Lead and supervise maintenance craftspeople and contractors, ensuring work is planned, scheduled, and executed efficiently.
- Ensure planned maintenance down days are effectively managed for maximum productivity.
- Forecast maintenance needs and execute projects within established timelines and budgets.
- Manage relationships with external vendors, contractors, and engineering consultants.
- Drive the successful implementation of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) strategies throughout the facility.
- Conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis to address recurring equipment issues and improve system reliability.
- Develop and implement equipment modifications to improve production, reduce downtime, and enhance cost efficiency.
- Establish and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) while ensuring necessary training for maintenance personnel.
- Recommend and procure parts for equipment repairs, replacements, and spare parts.
- Assist in developing and managing the annual maintenance budget, tracking expenditures, and reporting variances.
- Assist in the design of and execution of preventive and predictive maintenance programs to optimize equipment life and minimize operating costs.
- Monitor vibration analysis programs and recommend corrective actions like balancing alignment or component replacement.
- Prepare reports on machine condition, recommend corrective action, and report on the effectiveness of repairs.
- Support 5S efforts through conducting 5S inspections as needed.
What It Takes:
- Minimum of 5 years of maintenance leadership experience, including direct supervision of employees.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering degree (preferred) or equivalent technical experience.
- Proven ability to lead teams, drive change, and improve operational performance.
- Strong decision-making and troubleshooting skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Experience managing multiple priorities while maintaining a sense of urgency.
- Hands-on experience with high-speed manufacturing equipment, preventative maintenance programs, and reliability engineering.
- Familiarity with vibration monitoring, predictive maintenance techniques, and root cause analysis methodologies.
- Self-directed leader with a positive, solutions-focused mindset.
- Ability to engage and empower teams, influence others, and drive operational excellence.
