You are a Warehouse Associate who plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient handling, distribution, and delivery of food and essential resources to individuals and families in need within the Sunnyvale community. This position focuses on inventory management, food safety, and supporting various food assistance programs to improve food security and reduce hunger.
This position pays $25 to $27 per hour.
What you will be doing:
- Safely operate warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, dock levelers) to move and manage food and non-food items. Ensure proper unloading and rotation of products from trucks, trailers, and donor vehicles for storage and distribution.
- Ensure inventory is accurately tracked and organized. Participate in regular inventory checks (cycle counts and physical inventories) to maintain proper product flow and availability.
- Oversee picking, palletizing, and loading of food items for timely delivery. Ensure food handling practices align with safety and regulatory standards.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant warehouse environment. Follow food safety protocols and local, state, and federal guidelines related to food handling and distribution.
- Assist in managing food programs such as the Weekly Food Program, Home Food Delivery, and Unhoused Self-Select Pantry. Ensure timely food deliveries and coordinate pantry services based on eligibility.
What you bring:
- Forklift experience and ability to obtain forklift certification.
- Knowledge of food safety, handling, and distribution processes.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment safely and manage food storage and distribution.
- Physical capability to lift up to 100 lbs occasionally and 50 lbs frequently.
- Comfortable working in various environments, including freezers and coolers.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred, but not required).
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with team members and community partners.
