Overview:
Nelson Construction is seeking a highly motivated Construction Laborer who will play a vital role in supporting the construction activities of production residential new construction projects in Hartford County. Working under the direction of a Field Supervisor and alongside skilled tradespeople, the Construction Laborer will contribute to the successful completion of construction projects by performing various tasks on the jobsite.
Key Responsibilities:
1. General Labor: Perform a variety of manual labor tasks, including but not limited to concrete prep work, miscellaneous carpentry and finish work, lifting and carrying materials, and operating hand and power tools.
2. Site Preparation: Assist in site preparation activities such as clearing debris and erecting temporary structures to facilitate construction work.
3. Material Handling: Assist in loading and unloading construction materials, distributing them to appropriate locations on the jobsite, and ensuring they are stored safely and securely. Driving of the company truck and other equipment such as a lull or bobcat required.
4. Demolition: Participate in demolition activities as needed, including dismantling structures, removing debris, and cleaning up demolition sites.
5. Assistance to Trades: Support skilled tradespeople, such as carpenters, electricians, and plumbers, by providing assistance with tasks as directed.
6. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures on the jobsite, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safe work practices.
7. Site Cleanup: Maintain cleanliness and organization on the jobsite by cleaning up debris, removing trash, and ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored.
8. Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other laborers, tradespeople, and supervisors to ensure efficient workflow and the timely completion of construction tasks.
9. Ad Hoc Duties: Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Field Supervisor to support the overall success of the construction project.
Qualifications:
1. No specific educational requirements, although a high school diploma or equivalent may be preferred.
2. Previous experience in construction or a related field is advantageous but not required.
3. Physical fitness and stamina to perform manual labor tasks in various weather conditions and environments.
4. Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
5. Basic knowledge of hand and power tools, with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
6. Commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols and procedures on the jobsite.
7. Clean driving record and license.
