Job Summary: To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable and clean place in which to learn, play and develop.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the school building, including the grounds, corridors, classrooms, and restrooms.
This role requires a high level of attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the school building, including the grounds, corridors, classrooms, and restrooms.
2. Regulate heating systems to ensure temperatures are suitable for the season and to promote economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity.
3. Shovel and/or sand walks and steps as necessary.
4. Ensure all exit doors are open and panic bars are functioning properly during school hours.
5. Sweep or vacuum assigned areas daily, dust furniture, and check for any hazards or damage.
6. Assist in cleaning corridors after school each day and during the day when needed.
7. Scrub and disinfect toilet floors daily, clean sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains, and wash windows as needed.
8. Perform yard keeping chores such as grass cutting, trimming, and other tasks to maintain the school grounds in a safe and attractive condition.
9. Keep all floors clean and in good condition, making minor repairs as needed.
10. Report major repairs to the head custodian and/or principal promptly and any damage to school property immediately.
11. Remain on school premises during assigned work hours and non-school hours when authorized and required by the principal.
12. Open and close the building each school day, ensuring all doors and windows are secured, and lights are turned off except for safety reasons.
13. Assist in inventory management, requisitioning supplies and equipment as needed, and conducting general maintenance and upkeep.
14. Move furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities and directed by the principal.
15. Comply with procedures for storing and disposing of trash, rubbish, and waste.
16. Inspect the building regularly, reporting any conditions involving safety and health to the principal or designee.
17. Assist in inspecting fire extinguishers on a scheduled basis and perform other tasks as assigned by the principal or designee.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers, multiply and divide with 10's and 100's, and perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
