General Statement of Position
This position reads pick lists, creates labels, loads parts into boxes or packing, and stages parcels for shipping per customer specifications.
Essential Job Functions
- Physically load and unload parts from wire basket into or onto cardboard/ wooden pallets.
- May Load and unload truck according to standard process and safe work practices.
- Assembles cardboard boxes.
- Stacks baskets and bundles of raw materials.
- Loads raw materials into inside storage.
- Reads and interprets work orders and pick tickets.
- Creates shipping labels.
- Participates in inventory counts.
- Follows Nelson standards, policies and procedures.
- Moves products with other equipment, including PIV and/or pallet jack.
- Maintains general housekeeping for work area.
- Maintains steady care of equipment and materials.
- Handles materials to ensure own safety and of those around you, as well as the quality and integrity of the parts.
- Follows customer specifications when using packing materials and processes.
Knowledge, skills and abilities required
- Ability to operate a pallet jack.
- Must have a general working knowledge and skill in loading and unloading parts.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to do basic math
- Intermediate reading and writing skills.
- Must have strong attention to detail and good time management skills.
- Must be able to visually identify product labeling.
- Must have basic computer skills. SAP is a plus.
- Ability to work independently, accurately and safely under pressure.
- Ability to read and understand written instructions and safety guidelines.
Education and Experience Required
- At least one year of relevant experience is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Continuous mental and visual attention is required.
- Requires constant alertness and attention to detail.
- Work involves likelihood of irregularity of work schedule to meet customer demands.
- Performing these duties will involve lifting, pulling, or pushing physical objects; standing, stooping and bending, and walking for long periods of time.
- Working in hot, cold, noisy work areas and being exposed to odors, fumes, and dust.
- Wears Personal Protective Equipment, including safety glasses and steel-toed boots.
- Pushing, pulling, bending and lifting up to 30 pounds.
