Overview:
The Shipping Clerk is an essential function of our shipping department. This position supports the Shipping Supervisor by communicating and performing all shipping procedures. This position will also work in the department boxing parts for shipment on occasion, as needed.
The position is Monday-Thursday 6:00am - 4:30pm. Overtime required, as needed. Generally the end of the month will require more overtime. Pay range: $20 - $22/hour DOE
Responsibilities:
- Assists internal and external customers and venders.
- Creates and completes shipments.
- Completes scheduled daily tasks in a timely manner.
- Schedules pickups with Freight carriers.
- Follows and complies with customer shipping guidelines.
- Follows Nelson standards, policies and procedures.
- Completes paperwork with completeness and accuracy.
- Boxes parts for shipment to customers on occasion, as needed.
- Resolves non-conforming shipment issues.
- Processes shipments for UPS, FedEx and Air packages in a timely manner.
- Report any issues that might arise.
Work Environment/Safety:
- Performing these duties will involve working additional hours and having direct contact with customers.
- Being exposed to noise, odors, fumes, and dust.
- Pushing, pulling, bending, and lifting up to 30 pounds.
- Wearing PPE, including safety glasses and steel-toed boots.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Ability to drive a forklift and use a pallet jack.
- Must have a general working knowledge and average skill in loading and unloading parts.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to do basic math, including decimals and percentages.
- Intermediate reading and writing skills.
- Must have strong attention to detail and good time management skills.
- Must be able to visually identify product labeling.
- Must have basic computer skills. SAP is a plus.
- Ability to work independently, accurately and safely under pressure.
- Ability to read and understand written instructions and safety guidelines.
- Must be able to prioritize workload and adapt to last minute changes.
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in Order Processing in a manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
- Previous Customer Service is a plus.
