Job Title: Newspaper Pagination/Graphic Designer
Location: Work from home or at The Denmark News office in Denmark, Wisconsin
Schedule: Weekly newspaper produced and finalized every Sunday and Monday morning
Overview:
The Denmark News is hiring a skilled and experienced Newspaper Pagination/Graphic Designer to join our small but mighty team. This is not a training position — applicants must have prior experience in newspaper layout and design. If you’ve never paginated a newspaper before, this is not the role for you.
You’ll be responsible for putting together our weekly paper, laying out pages, placing ads and legal notices, and ensuring everything is ready for print by Monday midday. You may work remotely or on-site in Denmark, but meeting tight Sunday/Monday deadlines is non-negotiable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lay out and paginate the entire newspaper using Adobe InDesign
- Design display ads, classifieds, and place legal/public notices in proper format
- Work with editorial staff to format articles, headlines, and photographs
- Build clean, engaging page layouts that appeal to readers
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and press-readiness of all files
- Follow legal formatting requirements for public/legal notices
- Maintain design templates, past issue archives, and digital assets
- Occasionally assist with graphics for digital editions or social platforms
Requirements:
- Newspaper layout/pagination experience is REQUIRED
- Proficient in Adobe InDesign; working knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator
- Familiar with typography, layout design principles, and print standards
- Knowledge of formatting and placing legal/public notices
- Must meet firm production deadlines on Sundays and Monday mornings
- Detail-oriented, organized, and self-directed
- Strong communication and file management skills
- Bonus: Experience with CorelDraw or signage/layout design is a plus
