Overview
Nelson Mullins is seeking a litigation practice assistant in our Huntington office to support paralegals and attorneys in a range of matters in state and federal court. The ideal candidate will have a year or more litigation experience in a law firm, including a general understanding of a paralegal’s role in the litigation life cycle or will have recently obtained their paralegal certification.
A Day in the Life
Performing a broad range of substantive billable and nonbillable tasks, you’ll work directly with paralegals and attorneys on complex litigation matters in a variety of industries. You’ll assist with maintaining and monitoring court deadlines for assigned cases and support paralegals and attorneys with daily tasks including, but not limited to, document organization, maintenance, and production. Other responsibilities will require you to track and manage discovery, including document productions; participate in case strategy meetings; and handle routine calls and correspondence to courts, outside attorneys, and clients.

You have a strong sense of accountability, take ownership over projects and responsibilities, resolve issues proactively, and know how to be a true team player. You’re a technology pro and have no problem learning new software. You utilize your keen eye for detail to further teamwork, client services, and efficiency. A two- or four-year degree and paralegal certificate is highly desired, however work experience may be substituted for education. There will be the need Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet business needs.
