Nelson Pipeline is seeking a highly motivated Lead Tester to oversee and conduct thorough testing of water utility lines, including air tests, vacuum testing, core drilling, chlorine injecting, potholing, and walk-behind concrete sawing. This role requires a strong sense of responsibility for the quality control of completed projects. The Lead Tester will report to the Testing Foreman, with the autonomy to independently manage tests, direct other Testers at job sites, and take charge of the team in the absence of the Testing Foreman.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and conduct testing of water utility lines, including air tests, vacuum testing, core drilling, chlorine injecting, potholing, and walk-behind concrete sawing, ensuring quality and accuracy
- Direct other testers, ensuring all tasks are performed efficiently and safely
- Serve as the go-to person for the Testing Foreman, stepping into a leadership role when the Testing Foreman is out of the office
- Coordinate with the Testing Foreman and municipality inspectors to set up appointments for inspections
- Send pre-appointment and follow-up emails to ensure timely communication and coordination
- Maintain records of daily inspections and ensure proper documentation for all tests performed
- Manage inventory of testing equipment and tools to ensure everything is in good working order and available when needed
- Keep the field team and management updated with an organizational calendar to ensure smooth workflow and scheduling
- Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a high level of productivity
- Adhere to Nelson Pipeline’s safety policies and protocols, fostering a safe work environment for the team
- Other job duties as assigned
