The Short Crew Foreman is responsible for overseeing and coordinating daily operations on the construction site, ensuring that work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications. The role requires proactive leadership in managing safety practices, equipment maintenance, project documentation, scheduling, and workforce training. The Foreman will be responsible for ensuring all work is completed on schedule, to a high quality standard, and within budget while maintaining a safe and productive work environment for all team members.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily safety meetings, covering topics such as stretching, PPE usage, and daily safety precautions
- Perform and submit daily equipment walkarounds, including checks for Foreman’s truck
- Ensure possession of the correct set of plans for the project, and communicate effectively with the project team (Super, PM, PA)
- Document all changes on project plans (As-Builts), including measurements, photographs, and details of extra work or requests from inspectors
- Maintain effective communication with the Super and PM, notifying them of material shortages, delivery updates, or any other delays
- Review and manage the project’s contract schedule, ensuring deadlines are met
- Maintain and update a 2-week look-ahead schedule, including daily manpower needs, material deliveries, and equipment requirements
- Coordinate with on-site personnel, inspectors, and testers to prevent delays and ensure all necessary testing is conducted after task completion
- Develop and manage a punch list to ensure timely project completion and a smooth handover
- Lead by example with punctuality, professionalism, and adherence to safety protocols
- Provide hands-on training to new and existing employees, ensuring they understand job responsibilities, safety guidelines, and site-specific requirements
- Keep project documentation organized and up to date, ensuring all stakeholders are informed of project status and any changes
