The Utility I position is a versatile role that requires adaptability and a strong work ethic. This position involves performing a variety of tasks across different job sites on any given day, depending on the needs of the construction project and crews. The person in this role will frequently rotate between duties, including field laborer, copper layer, top man, pipelayer, and water truck driver. A key aspect of this role is flexibility, as the tasks assigned may vary daily.
Responsibilities:
- Perform a wide range of tasks as directed by the site manager or supervisor
- Duties include but are not limited to:
- Field laborer: Assist with general construction site tasks, including digging, lifting, and carrying materials
- Copper layer: Assist in placing and leveling materials as required for construction
- Top man: Assist with the upper portion of various installations, ensuring accuracy and safety
- Pipelayer: Assist in laying pipes and maintaining pipeline installation standards, with minimal pipelayer experience required
- Water truck driver: Drive a water truck to the job site and operate it for dust control and other necessary tasks
- The person in this role will be expected to check in with the manager each day to determine the assigned jobsite and specific tasks for the day.
- Must be prepared to work at various job sites, often on a daily basis, with the ability to quickly adapt to changing work conditions and tasks.
- Collaborate with the team and follow safety protocols to ensure a safe and efficient work environment
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Foreman or Superintendent
