REFRIGERATION ENGINEER-IN-TRAINING OR ENGINEER GRADUATE
Your New Role
As an entry level engineer-in-training (EIT) or engineer graduate, you perform a variety of routine engineering tasks to support the design of refrigeration systems for building construction including retail stores, restaurants, food processing and warehouses while in a training status under supervision of a Professional Engineer (PE). The complexity of projects assigned, responsibility assumed and degree of supervision necessary will change as you gain experience. In addition, you may lead routine projects of limited scope. This role is integral to our team's success and requires the ability to commute to our Minneapolis office.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Actively engage as a project team member on various building and construction projects, providing professional and technical support.
- Perform basic engineering principles and techniques.
- Develop, prepare and/or review engineering plans, designs, reports or studies to identify engineering solutions under the supervision of a PE. Review shop drawings, RFIs and vendor documents as needed.
- Participate in project meetings, perform jobsite visits, or conduct on-site investigations/assessments of existing buildings as required for projects; all of which may require occasional overnight travel.
- Undertake technician-level tasks under the guidance of an experienced employee.
- Develop an understanding of quality of work with the ability to minimize risk. Routinely self-checks own work for completeness and accuracy.
- Perform quality control on plans for design standards, code compliance, state regulations and local ordinances.
- Be prepared to take on additional duties, responsibilities, and activities as needed for client project delivery and company operations.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline is required.
- Experience working as a refrigeration or mechanical EIT or intern is a plus.
- EIT or Engineering Intern (EI) certification is preferred. Candidates without an EIT or EI and a commitment to obtain within 6 to 12 months will be considered.
- Experienced in the design and analysis of complex mechanical systems with a solid understanding and application of engineering principals, practices and concepts.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Revit, AutoCAD. Working knowledge of MicroStation, and Smartsheet is a plus. Ability to maintain skill levels within the changing technology environment.
- Ability to navigate and apply national, state and local codes along with American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning (ASHRAE) standards to overall project and individual system designs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to complete The Principals and Practice of Engineering (PE) exam within a dedicated time frame. Candidates will be expected to obtain their PE license for career progression.
- Candidate must be able to commute to our Minneapolis office.
- Candidate shall demonstrate proper documentation to lawfully work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
