Your New Role
As an entry level engineer-in-training (EIT) or engineer graduate, you perform a variety of routine engineering tasks under the supervision of a Professional Engineer (PE). The complexity of projects assigned, responsibility assumed and degree of supervision necessary will change as you gain experience. In addition, you may lead projects appropriate for your skill level.
Local candidates only. A hybrid work model (up to three days at home/week) may be an option after becoming accustomed to working at the company.
What you’ll be doing
- Project team member on a variety of building and construction types providing professional and technical support on multiple projects.
- Perform basic engineering principles and techniques.
- Develop, prepare and/or review engineering plans, designs, reports or studies to identify engineering solutions under the supervision of a PE. Review shop drawings, RFIs and vendor documents as needed.
- Perform structural design and analysis calculations, generate drawings, prepare specifications and other technical duties. Calculate loads and stresses on different components of structures.
- Attend project meetings, jobsite visits and/or conduct on-site investigations/assessments of existing buildings as required for projects; all of which may require occasional overnight travel.
- May perform technician level duties under the direction of an experienced employee.
- Develop an understanding of quality of work with the ability to minimize risk. Routinely self-checks own work for completeness and accuracy.
- Perform quality control on plans for design standards, code compliance, state regulations and local ordinances.
- Other duties, responsibilities and activities may be required to ensure client project delivery and company operations.
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (with structural emphasis) or related discipline required.
- Experience working on buildings as a structural EIT or intern is a plus.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Revit and AutoCAD. Knowledge of current structural engineering software (e.g., RAM, RISA, ADAPT). Ability to maintain skill levels within the changing technology environment.
- Ability to navigate and apply national, state and local codes along with American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) standards to overall project and individual material designs.
- Organized and able to work on several projects, a multitasker and comfortable working independently and effectively in a team environment to deliver projects.
- Positive and professional attitude with excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with co-workers and clients in person or virtually.
- Commitment to complete The Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) exam within a dedicated time frame. Candidates will be expected to obtain their PE license for career progression.
- The applicant is a U.S. citizen or U.S. resident with a valid Green Card.
