What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Services Specialist position at Nelson University?

Position Overview:
The Business Services Specialist (BSS) reports to the Mail Center Supervisor. The BSS assists the Business Services Department with the Copy Center, Mail Center, as well as other Business Services responsibilities.
Major Responsibilities:
- Operates and maintains Copy Center copiers on a daily basis.
- Services campus copiers on a regular basis. Schedules and coordinates needed repairs.
- Supply departmental copiers with paper
- Provide mail and package service at the window to students and University employees
- Sort and deliver mail to student and faculty suites
- Pick up mail from the U. S. Post Office, and receive shipments from UPS and other package services
- Receive and process some freight from UPS, Airborne, and FedEx
- Interacts with vendors providing Mail and Copy Center equipment.
- Other items necessary as related to mail processing and operation of mail services
- Responsible for the campus shred services
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· Faith, service and lifestyle that meets University expectations (See IPM sections: “Statement of Core Values,” “Doctrinal Statement,” “Christian Standards,” “Lifestyle Standard.”)
· Two years of administrative or clerical experience preferred. Demonstrates experience in a Copy Center or Mail Center preferred.
· Ability to work alone while displaying a high degree of initiative and motivation.
· Must be able to perform physical requirements of the position which includes lifting and carrying boxes of paper, packages, etc.
· Good driving record, and proof of insurance.
· Good verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
· High level of competence and administrative ability.
· Competent on Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Excel, and Word.
· Well-developed communication skills and human relations skills.
· High degree of initiative and motivation.
· Detail oriented.
· Basic knowledge of computers and ability to efficiently operate software necessary for operation of office.
· Sensitivity for the spiritual and educational environmental elements which distinguish the University from other enterprises.
