Grounds Tech II

As a member of Horticulture & Grounds Maintenance, the Groundskeeper will be responsible for plant installation and maintenance throughout the property and in the winter months will be a part of the snow removal team.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Water plants in greenhouses, indoor displays and landscape.
• Maintain healthy attractive plants by deadheading, pruning and fertilizing as needed.
• Identify and treat pest and disease problems on plants with integrated pest management techniques.
• Weed gardens by hand-pulling or using herbicides as appropriate.
• Use and maintain all hand tools necessary for garden maintenance.
• Apply chemicals as needed and maintain records as required by law.
• Operate and maintain power tools such as leaf blower or string trimmer as needed.
• Drive and operate heavy machinery such as dump truck, skid steer, tractor, water trailer, and snow plow.
• Work as a member of the snow removal team, including being on-call as needed.
• Preform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least 2 years of education in a related field or equivalent work experience preferred.
• Ability to work efficiently and prioritize multiple assignments.
• Demonstrate initiative by identifying problems and taking actions to solve them.
• Communicate effectively with supervisor and colleagues across many departments.
• Ability to work independently, with little supervision as well as part of a team.
