The Wedding Event Sales Manager is responsible for the sales, service, planning, organization and overall execution of weddings, rehearsal dinners and all other wedding related function. This position is responsible for achieving wedding food and beverage production goals and room rental goals through sales and up selling techniques.
The ability to qualify and analyze the needs and expectations of the wedding client is imperative while maximizing revenue for the resort. Clear communication of the client's expectations must be communicated to each internal department in the form of accurate and complete catering contracts, banquet event orders, diagrams, and group resumes. Excellent communication skills and sales skills are a must.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Accepts all requests for proposals and pursues all leads for wedding group business, including responding to inquiries and executing group/event proposals and contracts.
- Present, negotiate, and successfully sell lodging, food and beverage, resort activities, amenities, etc. to groups in the wedding market.
- Discuss availability, food and beverage minimums, and rental fees with clients.
- Participate in daily business review meetings with Director of Sales and Director of Revenue Management.
- Convert prospective clientele into committed customers through on-site visits, property tours, and proactive communication.
- Assists the client in planning events including menu planning, beverage selections, event set up and other services requested by client, assures all requirements are efficiently communicated and completed to client specifications.
- Maintain contact and effective communication throughout the planning process to ensure the highest level of guest satisfaction for all clients.
- Communicate accurate and complete details of the event by generating banquet event orders, diagrams, and group resume for upcoming events.
- Maintain positive & productive relationships with internal departments and operations, including front office, guest services, reservations, banquets, culinary, food & beverage, housekeeping, security, activities, golf & spa.
- Monitor group room block & adjust as needed to meet the need of the client and contract terms.
- Act as a customer service representative to anticipate and solve guest issues before and during events.
- Continually strives to enhance sales leadership skills by attending industry shows, educational seminars, and other learning opportunities.
- Maintain a high level of knowledge of all features and benefits of the property as well as competition's product.
- Remain informed on all current hotel industry trends.
- Be present onsite for each event to ensure proper event set up and satisfaction of client.
- Maintain wedding websites such as Carats & Cake, Wedding Spot, Wedding wire, and the Knot and respond timely to inquiries received from these sites.
- Attend weekly operations meetings, BEO meetings, and group resume meetings.
- Complete all other duties as assigned by director to include departmental cross training.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Flexible work hours to include weekend and holidays in order to meet the demands of the 24-hour operation.
- Excellent communication skills in all aspects: verbal, written, and non-verbal communication.
- College degree
- Must have a minimum of 3-5 years' experience in wedding sales, preferably as a manager in a luxury hotel property.
- Appropriate professional appearance and presentation.
- Strong computer knowledge of Microsoft, Delphi, Outlook, Social Tables, and other management systems.
- Must be able to push/lift/carry up to 30 pounds
- Experience in a 4–5-star environment as a luxury level
- Excellent reading, writing, and oral proficiency in the English language, strong interpersonal & communication skills. High level of enthusiasm, creativity, and attention to detail is a must.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and make decisions in a fast-paced client driven environment.
- Strong sales skills and ability to handle guest challenges.
