Position Title: Starter/Ranger
Job Location: Nemadji Golf Course
Start Date: Start of 2025 Golf Season
Reports to: Golf Shop Manager
Position Summary:
Provides cart/range service to golfers in accordance with True Service customer service standards.
Participates in all activities related to outside services and is responsible for the proper record keeping of start times and cart numbers. You will also help control pace of play on the golf course. Responsibilities may also include informing golfers on the rules of the course, on-course safety and etiquette, number of players permitted in a group, and the expected duration of playing time.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Verify every receipt for start time, proper payment, and mark cart numbers
- Observe on-course pace of play and coordinate pace of play with starter and other rangers
- Enforce beverage policy
- Ensure those paying for nine holes do not continue on without first stopping in to pay
- Request slower playing groups to speed up pace when appropriate
- Assist golfers with information that may help them play the course such as local rules, yardage markers, location of rest stations, areas to avoid with carts, etc.
- Remind golfers to replace divots when possible, repair ball marks, rake sand traps, fill divots when appropriate
- Monitor on-course activities and help resolve infractions of course policies
- Maintain knowledge of emergency procedures, location of emergency equipment, and reporting procedures. Provide emergency assistance to golfers and other guests as necessary according to Company procedures
- Assist golf shop staff in preparing for and running tournaments, clinics and other special events.
- Assist the Clubhouse with on course food and beverage deliveries
- Help keep trash receptacles empty and on course restrooms clean
- Assist outside services with driving range, cart, restroom and starter shack responsibilities as able
- Perform other duties as necessary
Education/Qualifications/Certifications
- High school education preferred
- Valid drivers license required
- Familiarity with rules of golf and golf course etiquette
- Demonstrates quality written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including weekends.
- Positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations.
- Able to work the months of May - October
Compensation range
$10.00-$12.00commensurate to experience. Conditional golf privileges are included
