Assistant Director of Classroom Support

What You'll Do:

This position is responsible for the oversight and collaboration of mental health services, family services, health services, and disability services, to ensure a seamless preschool experience for children and families. Acts as leader, innovator, and connector to build on and generate new ideas, processes and partnerships while maintaining high quality services. Ensures programs are relevant, responsive and build collaborative relationships in the agency and the community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with internal and external policies and standards, including Head Start Program Performance Standards, Head Start Act of 2007, Great Start Implementation Manual, Child Care Licensing Rules, and other pertinent standards for the following services:

a. Mental Health Services

b. Disability Services

c. Family Services

d. Health Services

  • Model and implement open communication and collaboration between classroom support services. Attend internal meetings relevant to position and as requested.
  • Assist in developing budget to address programmatic needs and contract requirements related to classroom support services.
  • Perform record keeping and internal and external reporting tasks in a timely and objective fashion. Prepare and submit information for Program Information Report (PIR), monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Ensure programs and services are implemented according to federal and state regulations. Develop new processes or procedures as necessary.
  • Provide counsel, recommendations and assistance to Early Childhood Services Director and Deputy Director in the areas of Classroom Support Services for program planning and management.
  • Review and assess component activities and interrelationships with other components; identify possible solutions for problems and make recommendations; professionally interact with co-workers, staff, and parents.
  • Assist as requested in developing grant applications, contract proposals and program plans.
  • As requested, assess classroom and program needs and assist with planning strategies for system/process development and improvement in all areas of classroom support.
  • Observe work flows and determine the most effective staffing configuration within classroom supports.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures, schedules, and timelines for content areas in accordance with funding requirements.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with partners. Attend partnership meetings and Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings as requested.
  • Keep up to date on latest Disability services information including laws and regulations to provide guidance to staff as requested
  • Keep up to date on latest state and federal performance standards, licensing rules and other applicable regulations

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for the supervision of Mental Health Supervisor, Family Services Supervisor, Disability Supervisor, and Health Specialist.
