We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Human Factors Engineer Intern to join our Quality & Safety department at Nemours Children’s Hospital in Orlando, FL. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the enhancement of patient safety and care quality through the application of human factors engineering principles. The intern will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to identify, analyze, and mitigate risks associated with healthcare processes and systems. This internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in applying human factors principles to real-world healthcare challenges, develop a deeper understanding of patient safety and quality improvement methodologies, and enhance professional skills through mentorship and collaboration.

Position Responsibilities
- Use various human factors data collection methodologies to collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data to identify human factors issues, trends, and areas for improvement in patient safety and care quality
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to design, develop, and test interventions aimed at reducing errors and enhancing system performance
- Develop and present findings and recommendations to the Quality & Safety team
- Assist in the creation of process maps, risk assessments, and failure mode and effects analyses (FMEA)
- Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities, as may be assigned from time to time by employee’s supervisor
- Bachelor's degree required; current full-time student, enrolled in a Master's or PhD program in Human Factors, Industrial or Systems Engineering, Psychology, or related field is required.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and teamwork abilities are required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products such as PowerPoint, SharePoint, Excel, and Word required.
