Job Description
The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for: Demonstrating excellent customer service that promotes patient, staff and customer satisfaction that reflects the mission, vision and values of Nemours. The Surgery Scheduler will schedule inpatient/outpatient surgeries and procedures for multiple departments as requested by the physician. To submit requests and ensure authorization/precertification are obtained for all surgeries/procedures, diagnostic testing, OT, PT, Sleep Studies and DME's as ordered by the physicians.

Primary Responsibilities
- Communicated effectively with patient families and provider great customer service.
- Promote open communication and positive attitude with physicians and staff.
- Ensure all authorizations/precertification are secured prior to scheduled surgeries/procedures.
- Provide all needed surgical information to partnering hospital/facilities.
- Provide education to patients and families regarding surgeries/procedures.
- Register patients and make sure we have correct demographics in system.
- Communicate with physician and staff regarding difficult situations with scheduling and/or authorizations/pre-certifications.
- Must be familiar with insurance plans regarding their terms and benefits.
- High School diploma or GED required
- At least 1 year of relevant scheduling experience required
