NeoGenomics is looking for an Accessioning Support Technician for our lab in Aliso Viejo, CA who wants to continue to learn in order to allow our company to grow.
This is a Part-time work schedule with either of the following options (availability of options subject to change):
Monday-Friday, 8:00am-2:00pm
Tuesday-Saturday, 8:00am-2:00pm

Position Summary:
The Accessioning Support Technician will ensure proper handling of all specimens received and prepare specimens for laboratory testing. This position includes such functions as matching patient information, data entry, scanning documents and other responsibilities to support accessioners.
Core Responsibilities:
- Receives (opening packages) and sorts specimens for testing
- Distribute cases to Leads to triage
- Collecting cases and scanning (chain of custody) to other departments
- Collecting paperwork and scan in Document locator
- Monitors missed scans (locate and scans missing paperwork)
- Assists in locating specimens (Fresh and FFPE)
- Medical Records filing
- Regular and Biohazard Trash check
- Utilize chain of custody logs for slides, blocks and fresh samples, ensure appropriate chain of custody for blocks, slides and fresh samples is followed. Oversee Q/C workflow and reconciliation of blocks and the block log
- Follow Department’s procedures including specimen routing and handling. Recognize and take appropriate action in response to missing or lost blocks and fresh samples and communicate these to Lead, Supervisor or Manager. Implement lost block and fresh samples process to locate missing blocks and fresh samples as required
- Other duties as assigned by department Supervisor or Lead
Experience, Education and Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Proficient with MS Office programs
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently
- Must be able to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment and maintain production and quality standards
- Must be able to work in a biohazard environment and comply with safety policies and standards outlined in the Safety Manual.
