Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following duties are normal for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Administrative Duties: • Organizes and conducts work sessions for managers, project engineers, outside consultants, and contractors. • Develops program procedures and assigns project tasks to meet goals and objectives. • Prepares a variety of reports, analysis, briefings and other informational materials. • Reviews and evaluates reports. • Develops and administers project budgets. • Contracts with outside agencies for services such as public relations, free lance writers, and printers to assign and approve contractor work tasks and approve invoices. • Utilizes computer terminal to design, develop and implement reports, presentations and data base management. • Assists the project team in identifying community impacts and public constituents or interest groups effected by the project. • Develops special projects that educate and inform citizens on how services function. • Utilizes computer terminal and adding machine to calculate cost and fiscal functions. • Staffs various committees by providing planning, coordination and facilitation of administrative functions. • Staffs various community and civic organization meetings. • Serves as liaison to business, professional, religious, community and civic groups for continuous positive public relations. Communication: • Responds to questions, complaints and requests for information by telephone, in person or by mail from citizens, city employees, and department heads. • Answers telephone utilizing accepted format; provides information, advice and guidance; takes and relays messages and/or directs calls to appropriate personnel. • Speaks to community, civic, religious, business and professional groups to provide information and positive public relations concerning activities. • Responds to, or initiates, a variety of endeavors with various community groups relating to special projects and events. Knowledge of Job Has thorough knowledge of the policies, procedures, and activities of the assigned department as they pertain to the performance of duties relating to the position of Community Affairs Analyst. Has the ability to compile, organize, prepare and maintain an assortment of records, reports and information in an effective manner and according to departmental and/or governmental regulations. Has comprehensive knowledge of the terminology used within the department. Has the ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, and other staff members. Has the ability to use independent judgment in routine and non routine situations. Has the mathematical ability to handle required calculations. Is able to utilize and understand computer applications and techniques as necessary in the completion of daily assignments. Has the ability to plan, organize and prioritize daily assignments and work activities. Is able to comprehend and apply regulations and procedures of the department. Is capable of performing duties under a moderate degree of stress related to duties that require constant attention to detail and tight deadlines. Has thorough knowledge of administrative procedures and methods as required in the performance of duties.Bachelor's degree in Business/Public Administration or related field required; three years of community-based interaction and program management experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Supervisory experience required. Must possess a valid Georgia driver's license.
