NEON is seeking a dedicated and motivated Summer Legal and Business Affairs Intern to join our dynamic team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the legal workings of an independent film distribution company. As an intern, you will support the Legal and Business Affairs team in managing legal matters related to film acquisitions, productions, and general corporate activities.
Your role will involve assisting with contract drafting and review, conducting legal research, and helping with the organization and management of legal documents. You will be exposed to various aspects of entertainment law while working closely with experienced attorneys who are passionate about fostering the next generation of legal talent in the film industry.
This internship will provide invaluable insights into the legal side of independent filmmaking, allowing you to develop essential skills and networking connections within the industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and revising contracts related to film acquisitions and productions.
- Draft correspondence, basic template agreements, and other documents related to film acquisition and development.
- Conduct legal research on various topics relevant to entertainment law and provide summaries or reports.
- Support the team in managing and organizing legal documents, including maintaining databases and files.
- Help with the legal delivery process for films in NEON’s library and new acquisitions.
- Attend meetings and take notes, contributing to discussions and brainstorming sessions.
- Perform other administrative tasks as needed to support the legal and business affairs team.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school with a demonstrated interest in entertainment, media, or business law. (OR Must be enrolled in at least the second year of a Juris Doctor (JD) program at an accredited law school, or have graduated within the last six months.)
- Strong analytical, research, and writing skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and legal research platforms.
- A passion for film and the entertainment industry, with a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
This part-time internship runs from June 9, 2025, to August 2025 and offers an hourly wage of $25. Interns are responsible for securing their own housing and must be present at our New York office for the entire duration of the program.
