Full Stack WordPress Developer

Under the direction of the NEOnet Executive Director, the Full Stack WordPress Developer is responsible for development, maintenance and upgrades of NEOnet developed applications, including the NEOnet website, and support of these applications to educational entities associated with NEOnet. This job has a FLSA status of Exempt.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Design, develop, and maintain the front-end and back-end of our WordPress site.
2. Implement responsive web designs that are optimized for mobile and desktop platforms.
3. Manage all phases of software development, including requirement gathering, architecture design, coding, testing, and deployment.
4. Build a customized, secure login portal that integrates seamlessly with school databases and adheres to privacy standards.
5. Develop and implement authentication and authorization procedures.
6. Create user-friendly interfaces for student and faculty access to consortium resources.
7. Implement robust security measures to protect sensitive information and ensure the integrity of the site.
8. Regularly update security protocols and conduct vulnerability assessments.
9. Ensure all development practices comply with applicable educational data protection laws.
10. Keeps current with technology and workplace innovation and obtains relevant training that support job functions.
11. Attends and participates in design and user group
12. Performs such other relevant duties as may be assigned by the Senior Software Developer.
13. Perform other duties as assigned by the NEOnet Executive Director.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Minimum of an associate degree with a software development related focus or equivalent
2. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of software development concepts and
3. Experience with specific programming languages being utilized, web design, and database development is preferred.

6. Ability to read and understand software documentation.
7. Ability to organize tasks into a logical and purposeful sequence.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Minimum of four year degree in Computer Science, Web development or equivalent.
2. Proficient in PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern libraries like React or Angular.
3. Strong understanding of relational databases, particularly MySQL, and experience with API integrations.
4. Solid grasp of web performance optimization techniques and tools.
5. Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
6. Prior experience in the education sector and knowledge of educational software solutions.
7. Familiarity with educational privacy laws such as FERPA and GDPR.
8. Experience in developing for accessibility according to WCAG guidelines.

The employee may occasionally  be expected to move and/or lift 100 pounds or move but may obtain assistance or use equipment and carts to facilitate these tasks. Specific vision abilities by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
4. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving, mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud.
