What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full Stack WordPress Developer position at NEONET?
Under the direction of the NEOnet Executive Director, the Full Stack WordPress Developer is responsible for development, maintenance and upgrades of NEOnet developed applications, including the NEOnet website, and support of these applications to educational entities associated with NEOnet. This job has a FLSA status of Exempt.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, develop, and maintain the front-end and back-end of our WordPress site.
- Implement responsive web designs that are optimized for mobile and desktop platforms.
- Manage all phases of software development, including requirement gathering, architecture design, coding, testing, and deployment.
- Build a customized, secure login portal that integrates seamlessly with school databases and adheres to privacy standards.
- Develop and implement authentication and authorization procedures.
- Create user-friendly interfaces for student and faculty access to consortium resources.
- Implement robust security measures to protect sensitive information and ensure the integrity of the site.
- Regularly update security protocols and conduct vulnerability assessments.
- Ensure all development practices comply with applicable educational data protection laws.
- Keeps current with technology and workplace innovation and obtains relevant training that support job functions.
- Attends and participates in design and user group
- Performs such other relevant duties as may be assigned by the Senior Software Developer.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the NEOnet Executive Director.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of an associate degree with a software development related focus or equivalent
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of software development concepts and
- Experience with specific programming languages being utilized, web design, and database development is preferred.
- Excellent typing and math
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and be highly motivated and eager to
- Ability to read and understand software documentation.
- Ability to organize tasks into a logical and purposeful sequence.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of four year degree in Computer Science, Web development or equivalent.
- Proficient in PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern libraries like React or Angular.
- Strong understanding of relational databases, particularly MySQL, and experience with API integrations.
- Solid grasp of web performance optimization techniques and tools.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Prior experience in the education sector and knowledge of educational software solutions.
- Familiarity with educational privacy laws such as FERPA and GDPR.
- Experience in developing for accessibility according to WCAG guidelines.
