What are the responsibilities and job description for the Detention Officer position at Neosho County?
The Neosho County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for the open position of Detention Officer. This position works 12-hour shift 7/14 days. Detention officers must be at least 18 years of age, have a High School diploma or G.E.D, and a valid driver’s license. Pay starts at $17.00 plus a $1.00 night shift differential.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who have an interest in the criminal justice field. No experience is necessary as we provide an on-the-job training program that includes data entry, operations of computerized safety and security systems, CPR/FA/AED, defense tactics, inmate handling and transport. Duties include booking detainees in/out, fingerprinting, operating computerized control systems for movements within the facility, transporting inmate to and from other facilities, court, dr. appts, etc.
